We are traveling from Lucerne to Amsterdam in July...I have found that we can either train the entire route which includes two transfers OR train to Zurich and then fly to Amsterdam...the time to train the entire route takes about 2-3 hours more and is a bit more expensive. However, the train passage seems a bit more relaxed than dealing with the train and airports in Zurich and Amsterdam. Any suggestions?..Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
What is your cost for the train? I see you can get a ticket to Basel Bad for 35 chf, then a Sparpreiss(non refundable, nonchangeable) fare of 89 euro to Amsterdam. 8 1/2 hours. That comes to about $159 US per person.
Sam...When I recently checked, the cost for the train was about $290 each...your quote is much better...My understanding is that you can only purchase tickets (point to point) 90 days in advance....Hopefully the price you quote will be available in April when I can purchase tickets for July....the time you quote is consistent with my search for info...thanks...RAf
The Swiss leg price was from SBB and is a standard price only bookable within 30 days. The rest was from bahn.de 3 months out nonrefundable, nonchangeable. If you are getting prices from RailEurope, you just get the standard price plus RE's commission.
