Lost charger

Help! While packing our bags late last night, we realized that our Nikon camera battery charger was nowhere to be found. Any ideas on where we might be able to find one, either at the airport or otherwise? Flying through JFK and Athens. Looks like Amazon will charge $26 to ship :( Thanks!

This won't help you, but might be useful for others. We found our Amazon Prime free 2-day delivery was good in London, through Amazon.uk

I assume your panic is because you are leaving today? Can't you leave a little earlier and stop at a camera shop in your area? This is a good reminder to all of us to pack a few days ahead of time. Also...when you get to Athens, find a Camera shop and get one. You will just need to use an adapter when you get back to the USA. Camera or not, I'm sure you will have a great trip. Wray

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, we had packed in advance but didn't pull all the camera equipment out ahead of time since we keep in in our safe and wanted to charge the batteries the night before. Just passing through the Athens airport before moving on to the islands, but hopin something will work out!

One problem with buying a charge in Athens, it most likely will be designed for their outlets and run on 240v. Need to get something in the US.

No, the charger is fine for both 120/240 volts -- I have a bunch of American ones I use here in France with only a simple adapter. that is not a problem.

Kim, that is not the issue. The issue is the charger sold in Athens probably will come with an European plug. So to use it at home when they return will require an adapter. We ran into that problem a few years ago when our son forget his charging cord for his camera. He could buy a new cord, not a problem at any camera shop, but the plug end was European.

I completely forgot my charger last summer and just bought one when I got to the airport (LAX)...JFK is bound to have a shop selling such things...

Okay, buy another charger when you get home! If you have such a wonderful time that you plan on returning, you'll have a European plug charger. How fantastic! You did say Amazon was only $25, right?

Can you charge the battery while it's in the camera, using the USB plug on the camera? Check the manual.

aha, good point Frank. Of course, I'm so used to using things with adapters, it doesn't faze me. I guess someone living in the States would find it really annoying when they got back home, but that's just not an issue for me.

I have a couple of chargers that were supplied with cameras that I bought in Europe, and having the two-pin Euro plug isn't really a big deal. I use a Plug Adaptor on them at home, and dispense with that when I'm travelling (except in the U.K.).

You'll probably find your charger when you return home, if not, you can get one at Best Buy.

Have a wonderful trip!

We ended up not being able to find one at the airport, surprisingly, and Amazon Global was going to charge an arm and a leg for shipping. And many electronic shops were closed on our first day in Santorini because it was Sunday! Luckily we saw a sign for a shop that said "Digital Photo" in Fira, and it turned out that they could sell us one (not the cheapest thing on the world). It does have a European plug, so we will have to buy an adapter if we can't find out other one (though it does have a car charger so I guess we could always do that), but we were elated to be able to have a way to use our DSLR on our trip! Thanks so much for all of your tips.
