My mom, sister, and I are planning a week in London this November. My dad, who is 83, will be staying home. He is physically independent—he still drives, cooks, and manages on his own—but over the past year he has developed quite a bit of anxiety and worries that something will happen while he's home alone. He is already taking medication for anxiety, so we're mainly looking for practical ideas rather than medical suggestions.
If you've dealt with a similar situation, what practical things did you do to make it easier for everyone? Did you have family or neighbors check in? Hire someone to visit? Use a medical alert system? Has anyone used short-term respite care or another solution?
We'd appreciate any practical ideas or experiences.
