Looking for Alps Itinerary Suggestions- Munich to Venice

I have three days (two nights) to get from Munich to Venice. I want to spend it in the beauty of the Alps. Any itinerary ideas? Swiss, Austrian, and Italian trains all have their own benefits and downsides. Any suggestions?

My personal recommendation would be to go to Ortisei in the Dolomites.
EC train to Bressanone, then Regionale train to Ponte Gardena, then bus to Ortisei. Leave Munich at 7:38 and arrive at 12:25.
Depart on bus to Bolzano at 10:01, spend a few hours in Bolzano, then EC train to Verona, then train (Freccia or Regionale Veloce if you want to save a bit of money or be more flexible) to Venice.
Others could suggest other scenic areas. If the weather is lousy, any place could be disappointing.
Edit- The 15:31 EC train from Bolzano is direct to Venezia S Lucia in 2 hours and 39 minutes.

I couldn't think of a better stop for two nights than the Val Gardena as Sam suggested. They are amazing to see in person. As the three villages/ towns of Ortisei, St. Christina and Selva are just a few minutes from one another, St. Christina being in the middle, any of them makes a good base for two nights.

Very short walk from the bus stop.

The long way round (via the Arlberg and St Gothard routes)...

Day 1/pm Innsbruck to Luzern
Day 2 Luzern to Como
Day 3/am Como to Milan
Day 3/pm Milan to Venice
