We are thinking of using the Cotswolds for a home base in exploring southwest england in March. We have two kids - 8 and 11. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay? These things would be a plus: - wildlife or farm animals to see - self-catering, comfortable and quaint
- opportunity to interact with locals Thanks!
We stayed in this self-catering cottage 2007 and absolutely loved it; http://www.easycottages.com/holiday-cottage/painswick-glos/capp-mill/nal and... http://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/holiday-cottages2/WBNAL.htm The village of Painswick is very quaint and lovely to stroll through in the evening after a day out sightseeing. There are also walking paths right behind the cottage that lead out of town and can get you up close and personal with cows, sheep, etc. easy driving access to most of the cotswolds. I can find some photos if you PM me with your email address.
If you don't get a place to stay with animals you might try visiting Cotswold Farm Park near Guiting Power which is near Stow on the Wold. They reopen on the 17th March. There is also another similar place near Bourton on the Water towards Upper Slaughter near Lower Swell, and near Burford is one with more exotic animals.
