London to Paris day trip with teens

I'm taking my two teen daughters to London next June and we would love to take a day trip to Paris. Can anyone recommend a tour that teens would enjoy or would it be best to go it on our own. Thanks!

Wasilla eh? You betcha! (couldn't help myself) I think you'd do better on your own. With such a short time, all of you make a priority list of the 4 or 5 things and places you'd like to do or see, and then make a 1 day itinerary based on opening times, how to get there (download a Metro map) and where to go for lunch. I'd imagine that the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and Arch of Triumph might make the list.... also a walk down the Champs Elysées,and a visit to Galeries Lafayette or Au Printemps. A lively area for lunch is the left bank around Blvds St Michel and St Germain where there are a lot of students hanging out. Visiting museums would consume too much time; save them for the next trip.

Hi, Tina. Have you been to Paris before? If not, you might consider a Fat Tire Bike Tour. Their Day Tour of Paris is four hours and starts at 11 am. I took my teens on the one in Berlin and they really loved it. It's a good way to see a lot in a little time plus the tour guides are very knowledgeable and fun. Check out their website for more info.

Hi Tina... I think you would be better off on your own as others have said. Its such a great place to just spend time wandering around and seeing a few sights, while taking in the ambience of the city. If you love it, you will obviously need to return to see everything you missed, but I would take a very few key things and enjoy them to the fullest. Teens don't always need a ton of details, sometimes the overall view is best. You can also do the hop on/hop off bus so you get a view of the key sights... then have yourselves a great Parisian lunch and watch the people. (I just took a 15 year old boy there and we really just enjoyed wandering around)

Hi Tina, I am taking my 16 year old daughter to Paris and London next Fall... She has a friend in Paris that filled us in on where to go, so we are planning our itinerary and I just wanted to let you know (just in case your teens like to shop as much as mine does!) of the Parisean teen girls favorite affordable fashion shop in Paris is called 'Cache Cache'. Apparently it is popular there and the prices seem really good... like 'Target' prices instead of French boutique prices... http://www.cache-cache.fr/

In my opinion Paris is 100x more interesting than London. How about going to Paris with a day trip to London???

Tami...Thank you so much for the inside shopping scoop. My girls love to shop and are very excited to visit Paris shops. Our itinerary changed some and instead of London we are visiting Paris, Lake Como, and Prague. Again, thanks to everyone for the suggestions. It's so nice to have a place to come to get ideas and first-hand experiences.

Tina I second the Fat Tire Bike Tour recommendation, and now you have time to choose which one,, they are all alot of fun, easy for anyone(yes, I mean that , I am firmly middleaged and not atheletic) and the tour guides present Paris in a fun and light way. I have actually done all the tours over about 5-6 years and enjoyed the one to Giverny and the Night Bike tour the most.
