london-copenhagen-stockholm

Hi
here is what we are thinking - planning for early June 2016
philly to london 2 nights
london to copenhagen 3 nights
copenhagen to stockholm 3 nights

any thoughts on this? should we take the train or fly or drive from copenhagen to stockholm? - we will fly home direct from stockholm,
any other cities we should add?

For those cities, I'd suggest to fly between each.

It looks like the best deal is PHL-LHR and ARN-PHL for $1273 with BA. Then serperately book a one-way LHR-CPH with SAS for $100 ea. and then CPH-ARN, for $96 ea.

thanks ..I have lots of avios so I will be using them.....although I still have to pay taxes/fuel charges it works out to about $1300 for 2 round trip..(not including the flights from copenhagen to stockholm)

Avios credits + $1,300 gets you two round-trip tickets to Europe. Ouch. What does it "cost" to accumulate Avios credits?

"any other cities we should add?"

I was just wondering which you should drop for such a short visit! London 2 nights - the first day will be recovering from jet lag which means 1 useful day in London. Even with hand luggage only, it will take at least 6 hours door to door flying from London to Copenhagen. Copenhagen to Stockholm is c 5.5 hours by train and will be similar door to door flying.

Way too much travelling and not enough time at your destinations for my liking. Drop London would be my suggestion.

ok thanks but we don't like to stay more than 3 nights in a city so we like to keep things hopping....Avios are fairly cheap - chase saphire or chase ba cards give you 50,000 or 100,000 if you purchase $3000 to $5000 in first 90 days....not a problem for us...then you cancel the card and re-apply in 18 to 24 mths.

the real benefit of avios is using them for flying US domestically on partner airlines that BA doesn't go to....USAir/American Air.....you can go roundtrip from Philly to Chicago for 30,000 avios and $22.

Hi John,

I'd fly from London to Copenhagen on one of the many budget airlines such as RyanAir or Norwegian Air - See www.skyscanner.com for options. Looking at a random day in early June, there are some pretty inexpensive flights if booked ahead. RyanAir has flights from London Luton to Copenhagen for $33. You can fly from Copenhagen to Stockholm pretty inexpensively too, but you might consider taking the train instead. The trip takes about 5 hours and takes you directly from downtown to downtown of each city and passes through some beautiful countryside. Prices are as low as 311 SK ($36 U.S.) if booked several months ahead through the Swedish Rail website - www.sj.se. With the time you have, I wouldn't add any other cities but instead focus on London, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
