My daughters and I will be traveling to London and Paris next month, however, we are having difficulty finding the least expensive chunnel tickets. We are not sure which websites are legitimate to book tickets on. Prices vary so much, my daughters are worried about getting tickets that won't be any good when we arrive. Please let us know which sites you suggest that are reputable and inexpensive. Also, we were worried about any closures there might be in Paris over New Years Eve and New Years Day.
Terri - I use EUROSTAR.COM. Unfortunatly all the cheap seats are gone. The current fare departing on 12/27 @ 8:26 am and returning 1/03 @8:13 am is £244.00 per person. You may be able to get to Paris cheaper using Easyjet(easyjet.com) from Luton to CDG for £194.22 roundtrip. I hope this helps
I've just been on eurostar.co.uk and found £179 pp. You have to travel out in the afternoon because the mornings are more expensive. You didn't say what time you wanted to travel so I made assumptions. Coming back there are cheaper trains on both the Sunday and Tuesday. Don't forget that both the British and French kids are out of school, and a primary rule in Europe is when the kids are out of school everything gets much much more expensive. For Eurostar, you are much better off booking direct, and play with your times for the best deal.
To emphasize what both Joel and Nigel have said, the later you book, the higher the fare. You have two things working against you: (1) You've waited too long to get the best discount fare and (2) You'll be traveling during the holiday season when demand for tickets will be high. Book TODAY on the official Eurostar site, www.eurostar.com.
