Local Ferries or Boats from Barcelona to Rome

Hello,

We are wanting to see the coast from Barcelona to Rome by local ferries or boats.
We are wanting to visit the following cities:-
Port Vendres
Cannes
Monte Carlo
Genoa
Portofino
Rome
We are flexible with our time, probably around 20 days.
Do you have any suggestions as to where we could find travel for this?
Thanks L

I can't speak to the ferry or boat options but you've got 7 cities lined up for a 10 day trip. You wouldn't see much. If you actually have 10 nights in Europe, you'd have a good trip with about 3 stops. Rome and Barcelona are both worth numerous days on their own.

You can do it by train. By ferry?? That would be a new one on me. Maybe charter a boat and captain. Then you could travel in style.

What time of year? Some ferry routes are seasonal. Many ferries go long distances at night (perhaps not true for your routes), so you may not see as much coast as you hope to. You could take the train for longer distances (runs close to the coast for parts of your route), and ferries for shorter daytime journeys.

Start with rome2rio.com for ferry/train lines and links to schedules.

I doubt that you'll be able to find ferry connections for all of these, and taking a few different ferries will probably be via different companies. Grimaldi Lines does a few crossings in that region. The islands of Corsica or Sardinia would be a more common mid-point. See www.aferry.com for comprehensive ferry finding.

Enter those cities into google and you'll find a couple of cruises that hit most of them.

Can't be done by public ferries. You want an ocean cruise ship, if you can find it on sale. We chose one (Windstar) that called only at islands, which we preferred, Rome to Barcelona. They do the coastal ports too.
