Have free airline miles, so can sometimes even fly out of smaller airports; hence, less stress. Assume it would be Milan. thanks!
Um, why not Florence? FLR
Pisa
Nope. Linda and Frank have it. Try Amerigo Vespucci airport in Florence (FLR). We flew in on points from Sacramento. It was United to LAX and then on Lufthansa to Frankfurt where we changed to a smaller plane for the flight into Florence. FLR is not large so you won't see any U.S. airlines flying big planes into the airport. Most EU airlines have local flights in and out. The nearest you can get with U.S. carriers flying from the U.S. is Pisa (Delta out of JFK), Milan or Rome. We did not see any customs at FLR.
There's also Bologna, but if you're going to Florence, fly to Florence (FLR). They only have 4 gates! But, you'll have to connect somewhere else in Europe such as Frankfurt, London, or Amsterdam.
Thanks to all. We've just readjusted journey making a flight Florence to London possible. Glad to know it is an option as love the lack of chaos at such airports.
Good, Joanne -- Florence airport is just about the least stressful one in the world.
Enjoy.
