We have a short time in Germany and will be traveling by car from Leipzig to Frankfurt in early October. I am considering the following itinerary: Day 1: Leipzig to Bamberg. Day 2: Bramberg to Rothenburg ob der Taub. Day 3: Rothernburg to Frankfurt. We will be flying out of Frankfurt. We want to enjoy some quaint, quintessential German towns. Any advise would be appreciated.

I have been to Bamberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Frankfurt. Your plan is not bad, but you will be traveling on the road about half the time. Still, you can see bombers and Rothenburg in half a day each. The distance from Leipzig to Bamberg is not so bad, or on to Rothenburg.
Map your trip on map quest to determine the amount of travel time and hit the road early to avoid traffic. You will have autobahns most of the way from Rothenburg to Frankfurt.
