We are stopping over for a few hours enroute from Algarve to Granada in Seville (we will be arriving via bus). We are planning to go to Santa Justa Train Station to catch a train 4 hours later (we get to Seville at 11:30 and leave at 4 p.m.). I am assuming we can store our luggage at the station (is this safe???) and then walk around. Does anyone know some (hopefully air conditioned) things to see for a few hours near the station? Thanks!
there is nothing around the train station worth doing for 4hrs. you can catch a taxi to the santa cruz area and walk it/shop/drink/relax, or check out the cathedral and climb the bell tower. maybe you can do both in 4hrs, but sometimes the line in the church/to the tower is pretty long. it's a city worth at least a few nights but if all you have is 4hrs, then take it easy, enjoy that 4hrs.
The Cathedral may be the best choice. It can be covered pretty well in a couple of hours. The Real Alcazar is another great choice but might be pushing your time limit because there is a lot to take in.
Thanks for the suggestions. Is it safe to leave bags at Santa Justa? Also, is the Cathedral or Alcazar air conditioned? Could we walk there or would we need to grab a taxi, bus?
We were driving so I didn't leave bags at the train station. Others can probably tell you if there are lockers, but I expect there will be. I doubt either place is air conditioned, maybe some of the church, but the old buildings were designed to stay cool in very hot weather. It will probably still be hot, but cooler than being out in the sun.
