I am going to Paris for a week in June and would like to
see blooming lavender fields. I was in the Moustiere Ste
Marie area several years ago but it was Sept. and there was
no bloom. The only solution I have found online is to take the train down south and rent a car. I would sooner take a bus trip from Paris to the closest fields
Brenda, there isn't a bus in France that will get you to Provence as fast as the TGV, let alone faster.
If there are any lavender fields close to Paris, they probably don't bloom in June.
Brenda, we were in Provance towards the end of June 2007 and the lavender fields were in bloom then. You could train to Avignon and rent a car ; we stayed in Arles and it seems there was lavender everywhere.
yes, thank you. That seems to be the consensus.
I was hoping to perhaps take a train directly to
the area and not have to drive...
I used a tour company for a full- day tour out of Avignon (it's called ViaTour or ViaTours; going from memory!) since I didn't have a car. It was a small mini van and stopped for lots of photo opportunities along the Sault route. On the other hand, I don't see how that could happen as a day trip. Unless you took the earliest TGV to Avignon and got there in time for the afternoon 1/2 day tour? I believe this company picks up and drops off from hotels only...
when you get to Paris make sure you have the concerige or tourist office ck on the lavender report. It is an expensive and long TGV ride if the blooms are not right.
thank you all for your advice. Because we had such
a cold spring I believe you could be right that the
bloom will be well into July this year. Maybe next
trip!
