Late November/Early December UK travel

A busy schedule has allowed (or forced) my husband and I to travel to the UK in late November and early December. I'm concerned about the weather. Any assurances or scoffing at traveling there, at this time?

It does get cold and wintery in the UK. It might feel about like Denver in the winter. The good news is, you already have the right clothes!

The weather will be chilly and most likely damp, although you might get a few days of sunshine! It won't be freezing though, probably 40-50 although when I was there in January it was in the 60's! Fortunately London has a billion things to do indoors. If you'll be in London, you'll get to see the city all lit up for Christmas, which is really beautiful.

It will NOT be like Denver. London is further north than Seattle. The surrounding water will modify the temperature but the days will be short, the sun weak with a lot of overcast. The weather should not be freezing but it could be. The humidity will be higher with a very chilly dampness. You didn't say where your are going to be. The countryside will not be that pleasant but London will be great. Between the Tube, the buses, and the tourist sites you will not spend much time outside. But the open air tourist bus could be marginal. Go and enjoy it.

bundle up, take an umbrella and enjoy the sights without the crowds~! the Christmas decorations and concerts might be starting so that will be fun. Get some walking boots, I got some great ones from Josef Streibel (sp?)for a winter trip a few years back and they were great for long distance walking, warmth and I water proofed them. I could wear them with slacks and tights/long skirts.

if you are willing to put up with the occasional shower, the tourist things you intend on doing should be much less crowded for being the off-season... just dress as you would for winter in seattle, omaha, NYC, or even miami, etc... take a waterproof jacket, appropriate footwear, easy-dry clothing, and enjoy!

Whare are you going? If it's to the Black Isle, dress really warmly. Boots, scarves, the lot. We went to London one January. It was cold, colder than Seattle got that winter, but not Denver cold.

I have been to the UK in late Nov/early Dec every year for 20+ years. I live in NC and never found the weather to be much colder(a little damper) than here. It snowed on us twice- once in London and once in Scotland. Neither was more than and inch or two and the temp was only in the low 30s/upper 20s. Take a warm jacket, wear layers(the days can be warm at times) and good gloves and a hat or scarf. I wear cotton blend pants, a long sleeve T or turtle neck, a cotton "big shirt" or a light sweater. I usually wear a windbreaker with a liner and a hood or a light winter coat. NO PROBLEMS! ENJOY!!!!!
