Laptop voltage question

OK, after reading multiple posts about laptops, I'm still confused. I don't want to fry my Dell netbook when I plug it in. So...can I safely do so just by using the adapter appropriate for the country?

I'm a long-time European traveller but the last time was in 1999, before anyone thought about carrying all these electronic devices.

Thanks!

Sharon,

Just take a look at the electrical charger cable that came with your laptop. It will have a label on it - likely on the box in the middle of the cable - that will say something like "100-240v". If it does, then it means you are covered for voltage ranges from 100 to 240 volts, which will be fine in Europe as the European voltage varies between 220-230 volts (depending on the country). All you would need is a plug adapter so that you will be able to plug into the different outlets.

Sharon,

Many electronic products these days are designed for "world operation", but as Steven said, it's important to check the Input Voltage specifications.

It's much more cost effective for manufacturers to design products this way, as they can sell these just about anywhere by simply adding whichever plug is appropriate for each country.

Cheers!

Your Dell is OK!!!!!!!!!! Just be sure to have adapters that plug into the wall.
