Ladies Shaving

Gentlemen, you have been warned ;)

Any thoughts on shaving? Which ways work the best for you?

I'll be gone for two months, which does make this an issue for me. Obviously I won't be doing it every day but I don't want to have a repeat of the werewolf in Paris (or is it London?).

Thank you!

I just take disposable razors and shave in the shower.

I use a razor (not disposable) that takes replacement blades (disposable). The blades are small and easy to pack as many as you think you'd need.

I do what Cindy and Andrea do. What is the issue?

Hey there,

Yeah sorry, I wasn't clear. It was simply an availability issue, getting disposables vs. getting a non disposable handle and disposable razors.

Also just preferences on what to bring. I see that there is a divide (clearly just basing this off a couple answers, so not really definitive) between disposable and not. The preference was also about weight. Would you pack a couple disposable and just look in convenience stores there? Or does Europe have more replacement blade styles.

I apologize for the weird question: it's my first trip to Europe and when i freak out I over plan :P

Not sure where youre going but most places in europe have disposable razors. London has Boots and Superdrug drugstores that sell pretty much everything that you can get at an american store, and more. I would suggest shaving right before you leave and that way youll have a few days before you have to worry about it again.

I brought way too much stuff on my first London trip, now I just bring along enough toiletries in my carry-on in case my checked bag gets lost or if I have a cancelled or delayed flight, and I buy the rest there.

Its fun shopping in foreign stores!

I would pack just what you need for the first couple of days, then you buy what you need over there.

Germany makes razors, it's one thing I always find cheaper in Europe than at home. Pack one disposable razor to get you started and buy more, as you need them, in Europe.

Faith,, since you are going for two months I have an important packing tip for you.

Pack for a one week trip, and buy stuff there.

They have all the same stuff we do,, a few different brand names, but you will also see some stuff you recognize. I do recall dental floss being expensive IN Paris, but thats the only true rip off I found.

There is no product ( soaps, toothpastes, shampoo, creams, conditioners, etc etc) that won't be available in Western Europe, so save your back , pack light, and buy stuff there.

Slightly OT,

on our first trip to Switzerland we needed toothpaste. We went into the Migros supermarket in Interlaken and bought a tube of their most excellent store brand mint gel toothpaste. So very most excellent that every year as we drive through any part of Switzerland we make a pilgrimage to the nearest Migros and load up on a dozen of the big tubes.

Finally, this year, I counted before our upcoming trip and found we still had 11, so no toothpaste buying this year!

I'd say have a look when you get here and buy what the locals buy. You might even like it better.

I am the same was as Nigel, I have found products I stock up on. Try something new!

I LOVE the coconut line of Boots brand toiletries and always stock up on each trip and always end up buying a bit more at Heathrow after security so I can put them in my carry on. They are cheap at 1 pound each item and it is so much better than the stuff I get here. I still have a bunch left form my last trip.
