The airline did not cancel the flight, I canceled for the obvious COVID-related reasons, but with only 3 weeks notice to the airline, and they gave a full no hassles refund.

We have dealt extensively with Alaska Airlines in our 44 years in Alaska & 5 years in Oregon. They justifiably pride themselves for their customer service. I wonder what will happen in the future to the small and medium sized airlines? The WH & Senate seem to care only for the really big boys with lots of lobbyists.

Yes, Larry42, I remember back in the old days when Alaska Airlines was one of the last airlines to offer good dinners (in economy), table cloths, good food, etc. That was at a time when the Major Airlines of the time had all cut back on decent dinners (I guess it was after de-regulation). So my hat is off to Alaska Airlines.

I have always been a fan of Alaska Air going back to when I lived in Houston and had lots of business trips to the West coast. I would fly to Las Vegas on Friday night (different airline) and then take Alaska to whatever city I needed to be in for Monday morning. Food was always good. Service fantastic. And their airport clubs were some of the most hospitable I have ever ben in. Unfortunately, I don't have that much opportunity to fly with them where I am at now. It is good to know they are still a good airline.

Of course the airline isn't as good as they used to be, they would have bitten the dust a long time ago if they'd tried that. No major airline could afford the level of service the airlines offered before de-regulation (I guess de-reg was the reason). I remember that Alaska Air almost went bankrupt, and a reason given in the media was that they tried to keep the level of service going (meals, in particular) for a little too long. It was probably more complicated than that but I do seem to recall they were maybe the last major airlines to keep no charge "table cloth-quality" meals going.

Of course, in relation to average incomes back then, airline tickets were pretty expensive for the average traveler, before de-reg.
