I have been trying to find a carryon bag that fits both KLM and Iberia bag size limits and have struck out. KLM is 21.5 13.5 10 and Iberia is 22 17.7 9.8 inches. All the bags I've found are just a little too big and I want to maximize my storage. Can anyone advise? Thanks!
Have you maxed out your personal item? I'd go by the metric measurements, as they tend to be more accurate. The inch measurements tend to have rounding errors.
Yes, I agree with using the metric measurements. When I was searching for a bag a few years ago I realized that manufacturers round the centimeters to inches AND some round up, some round down so it was not consistent.
I wound up with an Osprey Ozone which met Air France's dimension (as well as as KLM) at 55x35x25. It was the lightest I could find at the time at 4.5#. It is weird (monopole handle so you can't use a personal item with a trolly sleeve) and packs oddly. I have adjusted to its quirks and it works fine for me.
Iberia's website says this:
56x40x25cm/10kg
So the Osprey Ozone fits that. The 10 kilo (22.2#) weight limit is something to keep in mind as you'll want the lightest bag possible.
KLM is 55x35x25 with a combined weight with your personal item of 12k.
Thanks for your response.
Ive been happy with this RS bag

And an Eddie Bauer 20L pack as a personal item.
The soft bags can squish into the box if overpacked and are lighter.
For domestic flights, I use a 22inch roller bag as a carry on but the EU limits are tough!

I’ve been using the Cotopaxi Allpa35L, and it’s a flexible bag that could fit in your requirements. I’ve never packed it full, and it would work. One comment about the Cotopaxi option: there’s a Del Dia where the production workers use leftover scraps, so the bags are quite colorful. Mine is a traditional choice of blue with black accents. The Del Dia choice doesn’t have the extra coating on the main piece of the bag, and I like that coating to keep it cleaner & not attract dog hair, etc.
