My husband and I are taking our 3 year old and 2 year old twins to England for three weeks and are looking to stay somewhere close to a kid friendly beach (small waves, sandy, clean) do you have any suggestions?
I've attached a few links from the BBC's best beaches article. Several beaches in England are rocky, rough beaches but there are some sandy ones. The lists have descriptions of sand, currents, child-friendiness, and facilities.

Try Weymouth. I recommend this on the grounds that you will not want to spend the whole three weeks on the beach. Weymouth is relatively close to the New Forest, Bath, Stonehenge, Thomas Hardy country etc.
It's clean, a little old and faded, good sands and being on the south coast it's warmish and the sea is gentle. It still has a Punch and Judy man, good beer, fish and chips, ice cream, saucy postcards as well as a very good sea life centre and some stunning scenery. It also has good rail access.
There's a beach near Brighton that is definately not kid friendly. I wish I could name it but unfortunately, I can't remember it's name.
Does anyone know the one I'm thinking of? It has quite the reputation so someone out there must know the one...
It's a popular pick up spot in the early morning hours, if you know what I mean...
I stumbled upon it by mistake thinking it would be a nice beach for an early morning walk but I quickly found out it's not the place to be at sunrise.
