Just in Europe 1 week ago

Hello Fellow Travelers. I just returned from a one month long vacation. 1 week was with a group the other 3 we're solo. I am a woman, who turned 60 this year. I felt safe most of the time. I traveled alone to Ireland, Spain and London. I arrived ok on the day the Queen shook hands with her new prime minister. And I was in dis-belief when she passed away.
Loved it that our dollar is neck to neck in value with the euro. The pound is another matter.
I was with my group in the country of Portugal. We saw everything, no wonder it is such a popular place. I don't speak Portuguese, but I do speak Spanish and I was able to make jokes and have wonderful conversations.
You do meet more people when you travel solo. I ate calamari almost every day and/ or fish and chips. I drank wine and port. Y.o.l.o.

One of the best trip reports I have read. Thanks...

Can you elaborate on feeling safe "most of the time". Were there locations or situations where you felt unsafe?

Are you kidding? The pound is at $1.09--the lowest its been in almost 40 years. Contrast that to June when the pound was between $1.25 and $1.30

Remember that 60 is the new 50.

Keep on going on your international trips. And I'm glad you're okay traveling solo. There are so many single ladies out there that don't ever go anywhere by themselves because they don't have a travel partner. They're hard to find.

I'm sorry, but a bus trip to Branson to see the Ozark Mountain Show is just not an adventure to me.

If you want an adventure in Branson, go to Billy Gail's and try to finish Billy's Belly Buster Breakfast ... the pancakes are so big they give you a pizza box for leftovers.

Yeah, there's US food for you. Not for me. In Italy now, portions are generally modest. You don't feel like the "Hindenberg" when you get up. Satisfied, but not uncomfortable.

The bus and entrance fees I charged today in Edinburgh had a 1.119 exchange rate when I checked the CC transactions. I’ll take it.

Please share your trip itinerary.
Where did you stay while traveling in Ireland, Spain, and London?

Did you have a car (when traveling solo),
or did you rely on public transportation?

Which cities/ towns became your favorites?

Thanks!
