June weather in England

Yes, I'm prepared for rain with my umbrella, waterproof jacket and rainpants, but what may be the average temperature in the Cotswolds and surrounding area? This is our first trip to England and plan to find flowers/gardens and little towns to meander and maybe walk through the fields. Any suggestions? We will be flying in and out of Heathrow and renting a car after a couple days in Bath. Thank you.

Well at least isn't suppose to snow! What if...Just kidding.
We are use to walking in the rain but we let it determine what we did in Venice going to Murano and Burano. Such a shame! We just rode the boat all around the island and didn't get off because it was very rainy. We should have, could have...Next time..

More than likely it will be comfortable temperatures with regular rain. It could swing to cold. It could be nearly hot, but not likely.

I think that translates into , " its a crap shoot one way or the other, , but, it won't snow at least" LOL

We have been in England 2 of the past 3 summers.
Temperatures were hot and hotter, 90F+ in July
2006. You mention flower,we were disappointed in
gardens that year as heat had taken its toll.

Ron,

I so love how you wrote about England. It put a smile on my face :-). Thank you!

We were in London in July 2006 and it was HELL, no joke. My daughter was amazed that she was more tanned at the end of the trip than if she were back home in the mid West.

This time we are thinking mid-May to mid-June and hoping for cooler but sunny days. A girl can dream, can't she?

Hi Miss B,
Had you visited the above web site daily (as we do) you would be wanting to travel to northern England (where rain is 99% certain). It's the land of Beatrice Potter and Peter Rabbit, of course.
If you go to www.Google.com and enter something like "Weather Averages In United Kingdom" you are bound to be in possession of more information on rainy weather than you ever dreamt of.
Have a wonderful trip! .... P.

Miss B; have been in the UK every month of the year except Dec/Jan and have had better weather in Nov and Feb than in June; SOMETIMES. Bring stuff for layering and with your brolly/wtproof jacket&pants added to the equation, you'll be comfy. Always remember a friend who wore cowboy boots to the UK so the draft along the slate pub floors didn't chill the ankles; don't forget a hat to deflect the rain from the back of your neck.

As others have said, the weather can range from hot to pretty chilly. I suggest you pack a couple of silk long johns--not the superwarm type for skiing but the lightweight ones. They pack down to nothing but can be worn under your clothing for extra warmth if you get one of the cold snaps that Britain is famous for.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think I have everything but the silk longjohns. I don't think I'll be able to buy them as the stores ship them back to storage until winter. I'll check out the sports stores or order a pair on line. We do pack for rain as every trip we've been on - month of September - we've had rain. As this is our first trip to England, I was just curious what it could possibly be.
You ALL have been very helpful. Thank you. Bonnie

We're going on the 18th May and I am feeling cold just reading this thread. Looks like I will have to rethink what we were going to take. I hate the cold!

For layering, I use silk long underwear from www.kimallansilk.com
This is a Canadian company that specializes in silk items - they wash and dry very quickly, even my husband wore a set in Ireland this month.
