I know this is a little off-topic, but I'm arriving at JFK in the morning and not leaving for Rome until evening. I want to check into an airport hotel for a nap/shower/etc during the layover. Any suggestions of a hotel at which I am likely to find some quiet during the day? Any guidance is welcomed!
Thanks
Sherry, you could try googling JFK Airport hotels. For example the DoubleTree showed up with shuttle service to the airport. I didn't check the prices because I don't know what range you're interested in.
Hope this helps.
You could buy a day pass to say American Airlines Admiral's Club. AA Admiral's Club has showers at JFK and the club is fairly quiet. Surf the airport's website to see if they have "day rooms" if you really want to nap. If you can stay within the "secure section" of the airport so you don't have to do that whole security thing again. Otherwise I'd try a travel site like Orbitz etc. to get a cheap room (making sure they have airport transport). Remember with this option you need to give yourself a full two hours before departure once you actually arrive at the airport. No sense in renting a hotel room to relax and then panting to get to your departure gate to Rome. Have a wonderful trip. Rome is lovely.

Most airport hotels have what's called a "day rate" for travelers like you; usually half the overnight price. You can only make these types of reservation by calling the hotel directly. Be advised that day passes for airline lounges are typically only sold to passengers flying on that airline that day; so you would have to show a boarding pass for proof.
