Itinerary Suggestion needed

Hi,

Our original plan was flying out from US on 10/19 (arrive London on 10/20 noon) and flying out from London to Germany on 10/26.

We just decided to fly out to London 2 days earlier than our original plan (10/17, arrive London on 10/18 9am). This will be our second time visiting London, last time we stayed in London for 9 days and visited Oxford, Bath and Salisbury outside of central London. This time, we plan to visit Cambridge and Stratford Upon Avon besides central London.

My question is with the 2 extra days, we are thinking to go to Brussels after we land Heathrow airport by Eurostar and visit there for 1-2 days. Will it be too rush? Do you recommend or recommend against this idea? I just think 6 days in London will be enough for second visit? or is it not?

With 10/18 being a Sunday, will it be pretty quiet in Brussels (do stores close on Sunday in Brussels?)

I feel there might be more things to do on Sundays in London compare to the rest of the European countries.

Or will York be a better alternative than Brussels?

thanks!

You'll probably get a lot of opinions here in all directions. First, congratulations -- two extra days is a good problem to have.

If it were my trip I'd stay in England, either adding time in London or taking a train to York for at least one night, maybe two. Or maybe a day trip to Canterbury.

If I were going to Eurostar to the continent, I'd pick Paris over Brussels, hands down. But maybe you've seen enough of Paris. Or there's so much to see there that a two-day trip would be frustrating, better to wait till you have longer.

No knock on Brussels or Paris or elsewhere, but there's plenty more to see and do in England for your extra time. Regardless, good problem to have!

Thanks for suggestion!

Not that there is nothing in London to do....just last time toward end of our London trip (probably the 7th-9th day), we already wanted to leave and ready to go to Paris lol

I don't think we will visit Paris this time as we already been to Paris 3 times (and again, not like there is nothing to do in Paris and we do like Paris!)....so kind of want to visit a new city and since we haven't been to Brussel and haven't had the chance to take Eurostar either lol.....

Thought about flying directly from Heathrow to Brussels, but the flight time is not very good and not very cheap.....

I agree with the previous poster that you should stay in England. First of all, arriving at 9 A.M. means it wouldn't be safe to reserve the Eurostar until sometime in the afternoon. By the time you clear immigration (highly unpredictable), get from the airport to the station, take the journey, get to your hotel, and check in, you will have shot that day. Need we mention jet lag?
Since you are going to visit Cambridge, why not add a day or two to explore south and east of London?
Alternatively, York is wonderful, too. There's plenty to see in and around that city.

York, or Edinburgh, or Dublin even.
The countryside perhaps - Cotswolds, Lake District, Cornwall.
