Itinerary

Hi everyone!

I think I'm pretty much done with my itinerary now! I have 6 weeks total and will be flying in London and out of Milan. I'm leaving during the last week of May 2009 and staying in hostels and traveling budget.

4 days London - 2 day trips Bath & Cotwolds - 3 days tour to Wales - (plane to Krakow) - 3 days in Krakow - day trip to Auschwitz and Wieliczka - (overnight train to Prague) - 3 days to Prague - (train to Munich/7 hours) - 2 days in Munich - day trip to Neuschwanstein - 2 days in Salzburg - (train to Bled/5 hours) - 1 day in Bled - 2 days to Ljubljana - (train to Venice/6 hours) - 2/3 days in Venice/Verona (staying in Verona) - 2/3 days in Florence - day trip to Siena - 3 days in Pisa/Cinque Terre - 1 day in Milan [edited]

My main concern is between London and Poland. I've always dreamed of going to the UK but I don't want to spend my whole summer there. It would probably be best to just drop it money-wise but I just can't do it. Does anyone think it's a big mistake?

My other main concern is about rail travel. I think I'll be better off buying point-to-point tickets since I'm traveling in many countries (and some of them aren't part of the Eurail Pass...). Is it quite a hassle to buy tickets all the time? Is there long lines and how early do I have to get there? Which ones will I have to reserve? I have quite a few trouble understanding that. If I reserve in advance, do I still have to wait in line to buy a ticket or will they send me some kind of ticket? Can hostels help me with that or will I have to figure it out on my own?

Thank you so much!

One more time I forgot!

I have about 3 more days to add. I was thinking about maybe Zagreb. I don't want any place too expensive and too crowded. My other ideas were Olomouc or Piran. Maybe I can just add some more days to some destinations or day trips.

I had Rome on my itinerary but figured I would just be too exhausted on the end of the trip to fight the crowds of the Vatican so it's just one more reason to go back again soon!

I figured a budget of about 6000$ (CAN). Air tickets: 1000, Rail tickets: 500, Hostels: 1500, Food 1400, Transit transport: 400, Tours & Attractions: 1200
Does that make any sense or am I just dreaming?

That probably makes so much more sense. I don't know why I never thought about that before. Maybe this way I can add a day between Venice and Florence and decide later which city I want to spend more time in.

Which train will I have to reserve in advance?

Vanessa....

sometimes when you are staring/planning etc at something for a long time..you don't "see" what others do...

that's what's great about message boards...

we bring a fresh perspective to the table.
