We would like to take a 2-3 week trip next summer to the above countries. Anybody have any ideas for an itenerary? We would like to stick with public transportation if possible. Any help woud be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
Why don't you start out by looking at a few good guidebooks and getting an idea of exactly where you would like to go? Then we can better help you narrow down the best route.
You have chosen 4 very awesome countries. I have been to all and whatever you choose you will enjoy.
Germany, Austria and Czech Republic are in close proximity to each other.
Switzerland is SW of Germany.
Most important is doing the logistics and not back tracking.
Just remember to calculate and consider your travel days.
For your consideration....
Prague - 4 nights
Vienna - 4 nights
Salzburg - 2 nights
Munich - 3 nights
Lucern - 2 nights
Interlaken (Gimmewald) - 3 nights
Zurich - fly home
Here's Kent's post to help you calculate travel times between destinations:
Itinerary Planning Tools
This was our itinerary when we did those countries:
Prague, Czech: 3 nights (+ one night on night train to Munich)
Munich: 3 nights
Garmisch: 4 nights
Salzburg: 3 nights
Stuttgart: 4 nights
Now you could replace Stuttgart. We used to live there and like to go every few years to reminisce... Although, we used it as a base to see Strasbourg, France for a day. You could always replace Stuttgart with another city... Just to give you an idea of an itinerary that's been done!
Thanks everyone. I know it was a pretty open-ended question, but wanted to get some more expereinced travelers points of view.. Regards, Steve
