we want to go to italy at Christmas-any suggestions where would be a good spot? do they celebrate? are things open?
We were in Rome for last Christmas and didn't find it very "chritmasy". It didn't seem like Christmas but having said that we had a lovely time. I later read that Romans celebrate with food and family, not so much decorations and presents. We had been in the north before that and apart from Bellagio I can't recall anything much in the other places we visited.
Thanks for that feedback - I had heard that before -
Sharon, I am curious also. I will be in Italy Dec 13-23. It looks like Italy, much like a lot of Europe celebrates less "commercially" as we do in the states which I am looking forward to. I see that there is a Christmas Market in Venice that looks like a great family experience. There seems to be music programs in many cities as well. I am looking forward to an intimate visit compared to my first visit this past May.
