Italy and Switzerland train route/schedule suggestions

Greetings Travel Guru's,

How would you go by train May 2025 from Lake Como 2 nights to 4-5 nights Gimmelwald Switzerland? Where would you stop along the way and which way is the most scenic? Is it better to travel to Grindelwald Switzerland as a base camp and do day trips from there instead of Gimmelwald or is the Lauterbrunnen Valley the best location for the base camp? After Switzerland we travel by train to the Netherlands and fly out of Amsterdam. Happy to get any suggestions or advice thank you.

I just ran my MAP on my Apple computer with directions.

It showed going north past Lugano on highway 2 up to the lake south of Lucerne then west and south to Interlakken and south to Gimmelwald.

What town are you staying at on Lake Como?.
You can catch a train from the town Varenna on Lake Como to Tirano. At Tirano catch the scenic Berina Express https://tickets.rhb.ch/en/ and stay in Pontresina a night or two. Then go to Gimmelwald as a base camp to explore the Berner Oberland.

If you aren't staying anywhere between Gimmelwald and Amsterdam you might consider flying there from Basel or Zurich instead taking the train as it is a lot quicker and cheaper.
