Istanbul to Munich

Hello! Two part question, please...

Part 1. We are arriving in Istanbul late November, at 5:30pm for a 13 hour layover via Turkish Airlines. Want to take a night tour of the city and wondered if we should return to the airline's business club afterward to rest in a private lounge room (if available) or ask for a hotel room through the airline? We've read that the airline offers complimentary city tours and hotel arrangements for layovers over 10 hours. Anyone ever experienced those amenities? Speaking with their reps is VERY difficult thusfar and want to maximize our tiny time there. Help ♡.

Part 2. Leaving Istanbul, traveling to Prague. We'll be in central Europe for 10 realistic days of travel, departing Munich.
Would like to spend most of our time in Germany with places of interest being Berlin, Heidelberg, Salzburg, Austria and back to Munich. None of these cities are etched in stone except Munich for return to the States.

If it matters, all airline travel is made through Turkish Airlines using award miles. Also, extreme walking destinations are difficult.

Would anyone care to offer an itinerary, please? Thanks a million!

Hi! I Can only answer part 2
Your "musts" are scattered, it's not easy to weave an itinerary with them.
May I suggest Bamberg instead of Heidelberg? That way you can go
- Prague (3 nights)
- Berlin (3 nights)
- Bamberg (1 night)
- Salzburg (2 nights)
- Munich (1 night)

All of this is easy by train, but quite tight as you can see. Skipping Berlin altogether gives more room for extra nights or destinations.

Thank you Balso...none of our destinations are "musts", I just gave a shotgun look at where we'd spoken of going. I failed to mention Vienna and have never been to Bamburg, but will look into it, Thank you again.

I had 3 layovers like yours but the rules about the tours and hotel are very time-specific to your actual arrival, so read the fine print first. I was not able to take advantage due to my arrival time. I believe you're given an "either...or" choice. Hotels are so inexpensive in Istanbul (more so than last time I was there due to Lira-USD exchange rate) that I would select the option that has the higher value, likely the tour. You will still need to purchase an E-Visa just to leave the airport, but it's worth it.

Good information, Agnes! Thank you for the tips. Like you, I think it would be foolish to not see the city.

Istanbul is wonderful, but you only have 10 days.

You should reduce your locations from 4 to 3, You can do Prague, Munich, Salzburg and Berlin. Prague 2 nights, Munich 3 nights, Salzburg 1 and Berlin 4.

You're right. We weren't going to stay over in Istanbul and, as most of us are wont to do, are trying to cram too much into too little time. Just asking for suggestions as you gave. Thanks very much, we'll likely do something like that and reluctantly lose Berlin.
