My daughter and 2 friends are going to Paris, Prague and Budapest for 2 weeks. Should she purhase an ISIC card for her trip? What types of things will she get a discount on. We aren't sure if it will be useful. She and her friends are 22.
Mostly it will be discounts on museum admissions and things like that, although when I was a student in Austria, while I had an ISIC card, no one ever asked to see it to verify my student status. I just said I was a student (and had my regular student ID as proof, too, but never needed it).
Last summer in Europe, there were many places (primarily museums) that gave special student rates, but a student ID card was mandatory at almost all of them. There were two of us - one had a card, and the other did not... only twice were we both able to squeeze out a student discount as the rest of the time they insisted on seeing the card. It was well worth the small cost to get the card printed up.
