I'm a member of the GOES program. I received my new passport and went to update my GOES membership information. When I try to "update" my information with my new passport number it says my information doesn't match and I have to go to a processing center. I called the processing center closest to me and the agent told me i have to enter a NEW passport NOT update my old information but I cannot find anywhere on the website to ADD a new document. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong? My GOES membership expires in 2023.
I went into my account and found the tab for updating information. I was able to update my address and drivers license. I won't have my new passport for a few days yet so I couldn't give that one a try. When I looked at this website, I also could only find a tab for updating and no place that said, "New passport".
I did notice this statement in a box at the top of the page for updating documents, "Only some passport, permanent resident card, or driver's license information may be updated online. If you cannot update the information, you will need to visit an enrollment center so an officer can assist you."
I would call the processing center again while you are on the website and ask the agent to "talk you through" the process for entering a new passport since it certainly is not obvious to users. It is possible that you are doing nothing wrong, but received incorrect information from that particular agent.
Thanks Carol. I will call them back again... I might call another processing center like at SEA to see what they say. I could update my mailing address but not my drivers license.
I went to my GOES account to see what the problem is. I realized my D/L was old--expired and from another state. So I updated it with no problem.
I just updated my new passport info to login.gov
It says it's processing the change, though a few weeks ago it did not even let me make the update.
I'm still trying to get things updated. But I did call a couple other processing centers and they all said I need to come in :(
Donna, I headed out to SeaTac this morning with my new passport in hand. I also couldn’t update passport info online. I went to the customs and border patrol office where I just “dropped in”, no appointments necessary. They updated all the data in about 10 minutes.
I asked why drivers license and address updates worked online and passport didn’t. I was told that they want to see both you and your passport in person.
I had time to make this a special trip, but I do think it could be combined with your next flight if you allow a little extra time and make sure you check the hours the office is open,
Carol .... thanks for the update. I have to travel to Seattle in Nov. to see my doc so I booked an early flight so I'll have enough time to visit the CPB office before I head over to the U for my appt. Good to know it wasn't just operator error on the website . :)
I'm glad that should work out for you, Donna. The office is up the stairs behind the Delta Ticket Counter on the Mezzanie level.
Carol... thanks I'm pretty sure it's the place we went for our first interview.
