The Stone, the philosophy blog for the New York Times has weighed in on this argument. I think he has some valid arguments. Do you agree? http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/category/the-stone/ Pam
I post this as I sit in a pub in Ely watching Andy Murray, a Scott, battles Roger Federer from Switzerland. I had been thinking it would be like the Super Bowl, but it's not even close! There are premium empty tables. Is it because he's Scottish? Is it because it's tennis? Is it because it's Ely? Overheard one of pub staff comment, "if he wins, he's British, but if he loses he's a Scott. This was much debated on The Scotsman's forums. So, on the travel vs tourism front where does all this fall? Maybe you think it's just tennis, but the BBC isn't showing any Saltires and a few weeks ago there was a huge discussion over the fact that the Saltire won't fly over any Olympic venues. So, Nationalism is alive and well in the UK right now. Does understanding all these perspectives help me when I consider Obama vs. Romney? At any rate, it's some good tennis. Pam
Go Roger!!!
