Just wondering, im on a tight budget and im also tight on time.
It depends what your other option is - if you only have a few days in London and haven’t been before, then I wouldn’t exchange a London day for Bath. If you know London, then head to Bath. It wouldn’t be my first choice for a day trip from London - I would opt for Windsor or Hampton Court.
If you are on a budget, trains are cheaper after the rush hour, although this means that you get less time in Bath.
Only go to Bath if you’ve exhausted London. I’ve spent a total of two weeks in London and still haven’t seen it all. There are many neighborhoods, markets, theatre, museums to see so don’t short-change London.
It really depends on what your interests are?
Love Roman ruins, Georgian architecture, Jane Austen, exploring new places? You will have a great day. Sign up for the free walking tour offered by the mayor's office, it is excellent. www.bathguides.org.uk
None of those items listed above sound that great to you? Maybe you should spend your day elsewhere. I do like the idea of Hampton Court Palace. If you enjoy history, this is a very interesting place to visit. You can use your oyster card to get there by train from Waterloo Station.
Another day trip if history, computers, math are your thing is Bletchley Park.
It really gets down to what are your interests?
Personally, I would choose a day at Kew Gardens, accessed by boat ride from Westminster Pier and back to London on Tube, over a day in Bath.
Have you been to London before?
What are your interests?
Why are you short on time?
Not from Rome
My wife and I have enjoyed Bath the few times we were there, but with limited time I’m not sure I’d want to spend a few hours on a train. I guess it depends on what the alternatives are and where you’d be traveling from.
Yes, you need a full day.
I don’t think I would if the budget is tight. It’s a good place for Rick to start his tours but it isn’t on the usual agenda for tourism otherwise.
I’d prefer Chester or York.
I personally really like Bath and there is plenty to do there for a day. However, if you are tight on time, you may want to stick to London. There is plenty to explore there for a week or even more. if you want to get out of the city, Windsor is a short train ride and is a lovely town.
If you spend a whole day in bath, you’ll likely find yourself with wrinkled skin. That will pass, but the memories and photos will last forever, or at least a lifetime. Happy New Year!
It depends where else you will be and how it fits into your overall itinerary.
If you are passing through, or not too far out of the way, it is worth a look around at the architecture and Roman Bath.
But you really need to figure out what the top few places you want to see on your trip are, then fill in later.
the OP hasn't come back to either of their posts made a week ago.
