Does anyone have specific knowledge if Americans will need ETIAS approval to enter Europe before November, 2023? We have a trip planned for Italy and France in the March/April time frame this year. In looking at the ETIAS site, it explained how it works, but didn't specifically say if it was applicable to Americans now or not until the program is fully implemented in November. I would assume the Rick Steves center would have notified us if this was needed for the Italy tour portion of our trip. https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/etias/
This is not in place yet. November is the projected date so you will be fine for an entry in March. Have a great time on your tour and yes, if any action were needed for entry paperwork, RS office would be on it!
I think this is the official EU website:
Indeed, ETIAS is not necessary for going to Europe in March/April, and yes, Pam has provided a link to the official EU website.
