irons provided?

Will be traveling in Italy and Switzerland and wondered if hotels provide irons in rooms like in US.

What I have found, in general, is that the more upscale hotels will have a 'pants press' in the room. Most of the US chain hotels (Marriott, Hilton, Starwoods, etc.) will have irons available through room service but not one in every room. Rarely have I come across a hotel with an iron already in the room.

Also, the smaller, independent pensions/hotels will typically have an iron at the front desk or in a closet that you may use…agree that I’ve never seen them in the room. As for Zimmer, B&Bs, etc., they may or may not have one available...I’ve never asked (wouldn’t count on it).

Business class hotels tend to have something in the room. I love the English pants presses.

I can't recall ever seeing an iron in a buget lodging. B&B's, Pensions and budget hotels more than likely have one available if you ask. I travel with non-iron fabrics and haven't ever asked.
