iridium satellite phone reception on cruise ship

Has anyone rented an iridium sat phone that worked well on cruise ships as well as on land?

Iridium satellite phones are used by transoceanic sailors all over the world so I can't imagine that they wouldn't work on a cruise ship.

Hi,

I work for Iridium's public relations firm and I wanted to let you know that due to the network architecture, Iridium should work on every square inch of the planet (including oceans, airways and Polar Regions), as long as there is a direct line of sight to the sky and no tall buildings or trees close by to obstruct the signal as the satellites pass overhead. The only issue with a cruise ship is that you may need to be on deck away from taller structures in order for the phone to get a good signal. If you're concerned about reliability, Frost & Sullivan conducted a network quality study back in February. You can check it out here if you're interested: http://www.iridium.com/about/frostreport.pdf
