Ireland B&B needed near Cliffs of Moher

Hi there,
We'll be in Ireland this August, and we're trying to book the last leg of the trip. We'll be going from Dublin all the way over to the west coast (to the Cliffs area) in one day, then sleeping just 1 night near the cliffs. We'll then be making our way down towards Cork area. BUT, I'm having a hard time figuring out the best place to stay that 1 night near the cliffs.

Some have said Galway is a must, but is it too far north? Doolin was another suggestion, but Rick's book says it's very 'busy'.

If you've staying anywhere in that vicinity, I'd love to know where, and if you enjoyed your accomodations.

Thanks!

Moher Lodge, in Liscannor, is even closer - the Cliffs are a mere five minutes further down the road. Check out reviews on TripAdvisor. Mrs. Considine met us at the door with tea and cookies, and gave us a great recommendation for a place to have dinner in Doolin. During breakfast, Mrs. Considine told us all about the local slate (Liscannor Stone) and told us about the massive piece from which the dining room fireplace is made. They had a couple of friendly dogs, too.

We stayed at Fisherman's Rest B&B, 1 block north of O'Connel Pub in Doolin. It was just a short drive to the cliffs from there. It was handy to have a B&B within easy walking distance of a pub that served good food and of course Guiness!

Great suggestions...thanks so much! Moher Lodge was one on my 'potentials' list, so I'm pleased to hear you liked it there Nancy.

Katie - Try Churchfield B & B in Doolin. We have stayed there 3 times and have really enjoyed it. Maeve who owns it is a delight. It is within about a block of McGann's and McDermott's, 2 of the great pubs in Doolin. Have a pint for me.
