What is your favorite iPad map app that can also be used offline? I'll be traveling in Spain and Portugal for all of December and would like a really good street map. I already have an offline version of all the subway maps in Europe, but would really like a good street map. Thanks in advance for your tips!

The best map app is the one that comes with the iPad. Google Maps can give you any map you want in any level of detail you want in either map form or satellite photo form. The only requirement from you is that you look up the maps ahead of time when you are near wifi and take a screen shot (power button plus home button - saved as a photo) That same app gives fantastic direction down to the exact wording on the signs for exits - again, save each step in the direction as a screen shot. I have never used any other map app. But they would be limited to whatever level of detail the iPad could "remember" while away from wifi. If you want great detail and flexibility, nothing beats Google Maps as long as you plan ahead a little.
