International Vacation Home Exchange

I'm looking for reviews for this exchange company. I've arranged an apartment for Denmark in June with them. Has anyone had any experience working with them? I just don't want to arrive in Copenhagen only to realize we have been scammed. Thank you for any input.

There is a home exchange web site that probably will be more helpful than this site.

Try HomeExchange.com, they've been in business over 20 years and have over 1200 Listings in Denmark.

I have been an IVHE member for a number of years. I've allowed my home to be used and have used other members' homes in a number of countries. I can attest to the fact that IVHE is a terrific organization with an excellent clientele. I always meet people who are staying in my home and each time, I meet sophisticated and caring people. Have a marvelous time in Copenhagen and enjoy your IVHE experience.

I have used ivhe for several years and have nothing but good experiences to share. I have had multiple parties trading for my house and I have people there at the present time. I have traded for properties in this country and abroad. I assure you it is not a scam. I was lucky enough to have the owner of the company stay in my house thus I was able to meet her. I consider her a friend now and consult her opinion for travel options. The other people I have met are all very nice like minded people who respect others property. I hope this addresses your concern if I can help with any more input I would be happy to assist. Shirley

It is interesting that no one on this thread, with the exception of Frank, Nigel and myself, have been here before, yet they all posted on this particular inquiry. I think I would go with Frank's suggestion to check a website about home exchanges before making a decision to deal with this particular company. Not saying there is anything wrong, but you have to wonder when the only responses with "experience" have never posted here before.

Nancy, good catch. I have to wonder if these people, ahem, have some interest in promoting IVHE. That being said, I have friends who have done the whole house exchange thing before and will NOT be doing it again. I think it was a case of a total mismatch between the parties.

Now, I am suspicious. This looks like a set up. First the question, and then the hype from three new posters who have never posted on any subject before but suddenly respond within the same day. Will not be the first time for a little buzz market. Be cautious and do your research concerning IVHE.

The question was not a setup. I posted it based on my husband's doubts about the company. So could someone who maybe has posted before please respond?

Sommer, the problem this is not a site when home exchanges are commonly used so it possible that there really is no one here who has used them. You might try Trip Adviser which has a broader base. Good luck. We just recently moved to a condo and are interested in home exchanges but haven't had the time to do the research.

Hello all,
I think we can all rest easy on this one as I've done a bit of background work. As the OP's post seems legit, and despite the fact that some of the customers of the company in question were prompted to join in and post here (which is the grey area that we're a bit leary about), I still find that all recommendations here are exactly that... legit recommendations and not promotion. If the owner of said company had chimed in, that would indeed be different. As past customers were the ones to take the time to recommend the service, I think the OP was served well and that's what the Helpline is all about. Thank you to everyone for their question, their help, and their concern in making sure that everything is OK for everyone here.

Allow me to add that just because I allowed people to give recommendations of a particular service, that does not allow you to promote your home that happens to be on that service.
