Encouraging...
I feel better about a brief flight on airlines that strictly enforce mask rules. I am not ready for a long haul. The myth that airplane air is dirty needs to die, but you still have to sit close to someone. I have to look for silver linings in this for my sanity's sake, and if I don't have to sit next to someone who is physically encroaching on my seat because their's is too small after this, then I guess that is one.
It can be a bit unnerving despite the odds. I recently did a flight to Istanbul and back. I never really got warm and fuzzy about the flight.
Great news that airlines are so safe. Now all we need is somewhere to go.
I'm lucky, I enjoy the obscure and less traveled, I have about 8 European options. But it would be insane to travel someplace you aren't going to enjoy just for the sake of travel.
I did a domestic round trip today that took me through Atlanta twice. The planes didn't worry me so much. The plane train at ATL? That's another matter. I looked at the mass of humanity packed onto it and decided just to walk from the T concourse to the D concourse.
I've driven round trip between New Orleans and Denver (19 hours) twice in the past two months because of my concern about the safety of plane travel. My daughter flew back to NOLA from Denver in August on Southwest, said SWA had procedures and policies that kept her feeling safe while boarding and on-board. HOWEVER the plane/train in the Denver airport - which is the ONLY way to get from the main check-in and security area out to the gates - was PACKED with people. Guess I'll keep driving to Denver.... (new grandbaby. Gotta go.)
