Hi. We are traveling to Portugal next month with our infant. We are trying to determine if we can use our normal carrier carseat in our rental car/taxis. It is a model that is able to be installed without a base for travel...specifically, it is the Maxi Cosi Mico Max, in case anyone has that exact model. I think I read somewhere when I was originally purchasing the car seat that the baseless functionality is not compatible with European cars/seat belts, but now can't find that information anywhere. The manual doesn't say, and I've reached out to the company directly, who just tells me I should contact the country I am traveling to...eye roll. Has anyone had trouble installing a carseat in a European car, or do you have any alternate suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I did a 2 week road trip in mainland Portugal in April. My kids are 5 and 7 and the booster seats were provided by the car rental company we used. I would ask your car rental company directly if they have carseats you can use; are you set on taking your own carseat? I know with a tiny baby it's probably easier. I highly recommend Amoita if you have not already booked a car rental. In taxis, my kids used the regular seat belts. Where are you going in Portugal? It's my fave! :)
Finally, someone else utilized Amoita for car rental. They were attentive and flexible. Cost slightly less than AutoEurope.
Request child car seats.
