Does anyone know of a good, inexpensive health insurance for travelers? My students use www.isoabroad.com which is a great deal for 20 year olds, but too expensive for older adults. Can anyone help please?
I just purchased one on www.insuremytrip.com for $105. There are policies for every budget and coverage level, and, they have a "compare" feature that lets you look at the ones you like in a grid format. I found that very helpful.
I use imglobal.com when I go to the EU, and I am 68 years old. Don't know if it's cheap or expensive, I can tell you that it works for me.
We've used the coverage from the American Express travel department, BUT, thankfully, have never had to file a claim.
What this means is I can assure you they are quite adept at taking your money, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to pry it back from them should something go wrong.
Since I have to get visas which require proof of a certain amount of medical coverage, I got some good quotes on insuremytravelvisa.com -- it's an offshoot of insuremytrip.com, backed by Lloyds of London.
For my 2.5 week trip, I am getting a quote of $23.71 for $50,000 of medical coverage. I don't know if age plays a big part, but I'm 25.
Another source you might check out is Multinational Underwriters. We've always found their prices quite reasonable.
Try a Travelex policy underwritten by Nationwide …l purchased a comprehensive yet basic plan (health included) last year that covered four travelers for $76.
