On the other thread about chip-and-pin cards, someone said the Chase EMV card from BA Executive Club is not a " true" chip-and-pin. What does that mean?
It is what is known as a "chip and signature" card. My understanding is that when the card is inserted in the reader at a shop, it will complete the transaction without the pin and prompt the clerk to have you sign the receipt.
There is a very thread on flyertalk about it with mixed reviews for use at self-service kiosks... some successful, some not. On another thread, someone reported that it would work for online kiosks but not for offline kiosks.
Thanks. Which forum on Flyertalk? I find that website very confusing. I've looked at the BA section and most people are just talking about which seat on the upper deck is best.
Here is one of the posts on flyertalk. It is on the credit card programs forum. It has more than 800 posts (and I certainly haven't read them all), but if you read a couple of pages you get the gist of things. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credit-card-programs/1223331-usa-issuers-announce-emv-cards-chip-pin-chip-signature-57.html
