Is there anyone here who relies on in-room safes for their valuables while they are out and about? If so, you might want to watch this video. It's very enlightening: http://youtu.be/vW7M84khZy8
Frank II, I knew there was a reason I don't trust those darn things! It's quite surprising that such an obvious weakness hasn't been corrected.
Well i still trust them,, since you cannot assume all hotels have left the default at 0000 BUT its good to know to check that though,, and I will from now on. I do know that any hotel can open any safe,, obviously they have to have access to them in case people forget stuff or leave them locked when they check out, but one would hope they password is better then 0000.. So with that in mind,, check for 0000 default, I will continnue to use them.
Well, pat, I know that you have used safes for years, but I think you might be missing the point. All safes will have a default code. It might be all zeros, or all ones, but it probably is something easy. And if one or two employees need to know it there's a good chance that quite a few know it. Personally, I like to be extra safe. I put a safe in my moneybelt. Sure, it's a bit clunky, but better safe than sorry.
Great video.
