I just bought an IPAD two days ago and I will be going to London tomorrow. I have my professional camera, but I noticed the IPAD doesn't have a memory card slot. I see where I can buy an Apple Camera Connection Kit. Has anyone used it before?
Yes, it works. All I ever use it for is to back up to spare cards when I've got money riding on the shots. It's a bit clunky, but it works. Watch out you don't clobber the memeory capacity of the tablet with a bunch of photos. My pad's the super-duper, and with all the apps, maps, and books it's about to burst at the seams.
Thank you, Ed. George, bought was the wrong word to use but I didn't think it would matter. It was given to me so I had no idea.
Kristie, I had a 32GB iPhone (but no different than iPad in this context) for a long time before upgrading to a 64GB. I had over 100 apps on the 32GB one and was still able to take about 1500 photos and about 20 short videos during each trip, with room to spare. I typically would snap snap snap throughout the day, then look through the photos at night and delete the less desirable ones. Import them to my MacBook Pro laptop as soon as convenient. Never had a problem with not enough storage space or data loss.
Kristie, The point raised by Ed regarding memory capacity is something to consider. How much memory does your iPad have? Also, does your "professional camera" use SD or CF cards, and do you normally shoot RAW or JPEG files? In any case, you'll need the Apple Camera Connection kit to transfer any photos to your iPad, so it would be a good idea to buy one before your trip. Happy travels!
Thanks everyone!
