Iceland volcano alert raised to red!

Oh, oh...scheduled to leave tomorrow on Icelandair for 2 days in Iceland and then on to Munich. Volcano alert has just been upgraded to red. Haven't seen any change in the Icelandiar website alerts. We live far from our departing airport...Wow! Anyone else in the same situation?

No one can predict how it will evolve. I would stick with the plan.
I went to Iceland this Summer and it is so stunning! I have been following many pages from there since then and people do not seem worried too much as of now... https://www.facebook.com/guidetoiceland.is
They seem to say this volcano is not acting like the one in 2010...Good luck! Hope you make it there!

Thank you for the reassuring reply. I spent a lot of time in Yellowstone Park and haven't wanted to see geothermal in another part of the world for a long time. Guess I'm seeing it in action!

Pretty tense, I know.... But like yesterday, I'd still recommend you stick to the plan. If Icelandair has to cancel your flight, they'll do their best (based on my experience) to get you on an alternate flight (likely nonstop to Europe). If it doesn't blow till you're in Iceland, you'll have another Yellowstone experience, on steroids. If it doesn't blow at all, you'll have a great trip to Europe and back.

Easy for me and others to pontificate from our living rooms while you're under the stress.... but you're asking! ;) Good luck!

Edit -- Here is a news link you may already have.

They just lowered the alert. My husband and son are there right now. Go and have a great time!
