Iceland Travel Guide?

We are so sad that Rick doesn't write a book for Iceland - he's always our go-to for travel guides. We're heading to Iceland in September - any recommended travel guides that really tell it like it is? Thank you!

You really don't need Rick on this one...look at Reykjavik and Iceland visitor websites online, they're excellent. Lonely Planet is a decent book that covers Iceland. Iceland is one of the easiest places to travel in - you can even just show up and go to the information center in Reykjavik and you'll be set. Look into the Flybus to get from the airport into town (it's a good idea to couple the trip with the Blue Lagoon).

Hi shanago:

I visited Iceland for three full days and two half days in April of 2016. In preparation for this trip my brother sent me a digital copy of a guidebook published by Lonely Planet. It was nearly 350 pages long! It contained descriptions of villages with populations as small as 150 people. Talk about overkill. If you rent a car (SUV) for a do it yourself tour of Iceland this book might be useful. However, if your visit will be short I think all you need are the brochures available for free at the visitors centers and what you can find on-line.

On the other hand RS's guidebook on Scandinavia covers several countries so I don't see why he can't add a chapter about Iceland for future editions.
