Does anyone know about bus tours around Iceland that visit sites featured in the Icelandic sagas? (preferably one day, or a few days, at most). How late in the year do they run. I might have a chance to visit Iceland in September.
There are tons of tour companies in Iceland ...just Google "saga tours Iceland" and you'll get a number of choices. I took several day tours with Reykjavik Excursions and enjoyed all of them. You should have no problem getting a tour in September - they run pretty much daily.

Thanks, Agnes! This helps ... but I still can't seem to find any tour that specifically covers the a large number of the sites for the major Icelandic Family sagas - Njalssaga, Egilssaga, Eyrbyggjasaga, etc. Does anyone know of such a thing?
How about trying to contact the Icelandic Tourism agency...maybe they can help?

I too used Reykjavik Excursions. I still have their brochure somewhere, but I don't remember if they have a tour devoted specifically to the sagas. On the Golden Ring tour, they point out some of the locations associated with sagas, but the only saga-related locale where you stop is Þingvelir. I also took the Icelandic horse show tour, and this drove back to Reykjavik through an area that also had some saga connection, but I don't remember which one.
We took a fantastic tour with Isafold Travel with a guide that took us all around Saga sites in West and South Iceland. I highly recommend you contact them. The organizer was named Svavar and the terrific & knowledgeable guide was named Helgi. I would like to know if you have found any other such tours?
