Iceland layover during the night

Hi! I'm flying through Iceland in two weeks and have a 10 hour layover in Iceland. I was really excited about this but I've since realized that the layover is from midnight to 10:00am. I've heard about fantastic (yet short) layovers in Iceland but am worried that everything is closed during my layover. What can I do during this time? Is anything open?? Any tips?? Thank you!!

Get several days layover or at least during a daytime. If you have a daytime layover you can relax at Blue Lagoon.

If you're flying Iceland Air and can make it a few days (they have free layover up to 7 days), that would be ideal..I don't even think the Blue Lagoon is open in that time frame (check the hours and see). If you're flying when the sun never goes down (i.e. summer), you can literally stroll Reykjavik in the middle of the night - it's safe and wonderful. Keflavik Airport is tiny so definitely not enough to do there for 10 hours.

Since it's the middle of the night, and everything will be closed, how about getting a room at a local airport hotel and get some sleep. This way you can hit the ground running when you reach your final destination.

Some International airports offer "Day Rooms" for connecting travelers that you can rent for a few hours to shower, take a nap, etc. Might Google the Keflavik airport to see if they have one there. Can also check with Iceland Air to see if their Saga Club airport lounge has a sleeping area (usually just a lie-flat lounge chair or something). Would require buying a daily membership but would still be cheaper and more convenient than booking an airport hotel. Lastly, the airline may have some sort of hotel partner at the airport for just this situation that they can refer you to.

Can you see about booking a tour that will take you out to see the Northern Lights?
