I need your money help fast!

We are leaving for London tomorrow and my mom was thinking of bringing $750 in cash. What do you think? Take alot of cash and exchange it? Or pull it out of the ATM when we get there? She needs to know by 1pm CST today because she lives in the boonies and would need to get to the bank if she should deposit some of that cash back in. I appreciate your help in this!!

I would take $200 in cash and my ATM card. Does she already have the money taken out? If so, just take the cash and don't change all of it to pounds right away.

hi there, i would personnally recommend that she puts it in the bank, but you to have make sure that here debit card works on the plus system, then just take money out as you need it in uk, check with her bank in regards to bank fee, i would be very vary about pulling out cash in london becaues you just never know who is watching you

cheers mark

I like Bronwen's suggestions. I like to carry a some US$ just in case I need it in the airport for some reason and so that I have some already in hand when I come back. You'll get a much better rate and avoid the (I think) very high fee for conversion using the card to withdraw from an ATM than exchanging cash once you get there. The bank will charge a conversion fee also, but it's nothing like what the airport kiosks will charge. Happy traveling!

Make sure to call you bank before you leave to let them know that you'll be using your ATM overseas--we didn't on a recent trip and were not able to access money from our account! Have a great trip!
