HSBC or Scotia Bank to use at the ATM in Europe ??

Hello,

I'm leaving to Europe soon and would like to know which is the better option to go with since I wont be carrying much cash and will only withdraw when neccessary. Looking for little or no fees and effiency of finding a machines easily.

(canadian based question)

It is your bank in Canada that charges the fee, I believe, so you can use any ATM machine that has the same logos displayed as on the back of your bank card, i.e. PLUS or Cirrus. Ask your bank at home what their fees are, then use the card with the lower fee.

I think your best bet would be Scotiabank...it's the one I use. They have agreements with several European banks that eliminate the international service charge from withdrawing from those ATMs. The affiliations include Barclay's Bank, BNP Paribas in France, Deutsche Bank in Germany, Poland, and "selected" sites in Spain, and Uriskabank in Ukraine. Their agreement also covers WestPac bank ATMs in Australia, New Zealand, and several South Pacific islands....and Bank of America across the U-S.
